Google Chrome

Recently, my hubby installed a new web browser on our PC. Called Chrome, it is the web browser launch by Google. This open-source browser is still under development and the one we have is still a beta version. But still, we found the interface quite slick as it took quite a minimalist approach.

The browser itself has only have a two line interface on top and the rest is the website itself. From time to time a single line interface appears below to show the status of the web loading or your downloads but most of the time, you won't be seeing anything else but your favorite website. The address bar also acts as a search so if you type any word on it, it will automatically search for it.

Another thing we liked is that when you open a new tab, it will show you a screen shots (which is also a link) to the sites you normally accessed the most. Not a technological breakthrough but quite a convenience for us, and honestly, it is quite cool to look at.

Speed wise, we cannot say that it is faster nor slower compared to the Mozilla Firefox that we are currently using. It is actually quite comparable to Firefox loading speed. I guess since it is still on beta version, they still have to do some tweaking in order to show Chrome's full potential.

Another thing we encountered is we cannot load properly some website that needs specific plugins like Java. I guess they haven't release a version yet for Chrome. Hopefully when the full version is released, all these things will be ironed out.

All in all, we are definetely seeing a bright and shiny future for the Google Chrome once it reach its full potential. Can't wait for the full version of it. For now, we are still hybridly using Chrome and Firefox.
