House Warming
Last friday we went to a House Warming, one of my husband officemate. We had some pizza, chips and cake as it was his birthday too. We watch the blue ray edition of spiderman 2 and we had lots of fun chit-chating. Marielle also had a lot of fun as she plays with her dad officemates. And we went home around 11 pm.

Thomas the Tank Engine stop-over in Singapore

During the September school break we gave Marielle a treat. We occupied the saturday (sept.6) family time for her to see THOMAS & FRIENDS Live! On Stage @ Singapore Expo and get to know more about Thomas and the other trains. Featuring a cast of 10 on stage, including Sir Topham Hatt, Controller of the Railway, Percy, everyone’s favourite little green engine, high flying Harold the Helicopter and Diesel, who is always ready to stir up trouble!
Marielle is so excited and thrilled that day she even want us to buy her a Thomas toy light before we entered the hall. Though me and her dad a bit little bored from the start of the show. But after 20 minutes of break we really do appreciate the whole thing because there are some surprises. There's always a song or a dance that Marielle get to sing along as well.
The show's consist of wonderful props, beautiful costumes and scenery, accompanied by great singing, choreographed dancing and special effects – all the elements that make for good theatre.

The biggest event in Singapore this year is undoubtedly the F1 Singapore Grand Prix. With still 15 more days to flag off.The V8-powered F1 cars will simultaneously roar at full throttle as the Sunday 'night' race commences at 8:00pm (Singaporean time) on the 28th of September. The 2008 Singaporean F1 Grand Prix will be the first in history to be staged at night.
The full schedule for the three day F1 Grand Prix is as follows:

1st Practice: 4:00pm - 5:30pm 2nd Practice: 8:00pm - 9:30pm

Mom Confessions
Unsurprisingly, August passed by in a flash. Hopefully everyone has done their shopping, as well as taken advantage of the great Singapore Sale deals that we had. Despite the end of the school holidays, August is not a month to let your credit cards/wallet take a break.
Anyway here's my confessions :) "I adore Marielle, and I've never regretted being a stay-at-home mum, even though there have been many times when it has been tough. But I am lucky my husband Paulo is always there to help me out when I'm tired or need a break."

Google Chrome
Recently, my hubby installed a new web browser on our PC. Called Chrome, it is the web browser launch by Google. This open-source browser is still under development and the one we have is still a beta version. But still, we found the interface quite slick as it took quite a minimalist approach.The browser itself has only have a two line interface on top and the rest is the website itself. From time to time a single line interface appears below to show the status of the web loading or your downloads but most of the time, you won't be seeing anything else but your favorite website. The address bar also acts as a search so if you type any word on it, it will automatically search for it.
Another thing we liked is that when you open a new tab, it will show you a screen shots (which is also a link) to the sites you normally accessed the most. Not a technological breakthrough but quite a convenience for us, and honestly, it is quite cool to look at.
Speed wise, we cannot say that it is faster nor slower compared to the Mozilla Firefox that we are currently using. It is actually quite comparable to Firefox loading speed. I guess since it is still on beta version, they still have to do some tweaking in order to show Chrome's full potential.
Another thing we encountered is we cannot load properly some website that needs specific plugins like Java. I guess they haven't release a version yet for Chrome. Hopefully when the full version is released, all these things will be ironed out.
All in all, we are definetely seeing a bright and shiny future for the Google Chrome once it reach its full potential. Can't wait for the full version of it. For now, we are still hybridly using Chrome and Firefox.
She wants to be a Princess
Yes, indeed! My daughter Marielle really love the Disney Princesses. She was thrilled when she saw some princess photos, costumes and especially cd or dvd movies about Disney Princess because she enjoy the stories most. Her Daddy and I will be her King and Queen at home. Her favourite Disney Princess is Aurora from "Sleeping Beauty" because she is gracious and lovely like her. She tried to draw some princesses, although it was difficult but at least she tried her best! It was fun at home to see here transformed into a princess whenever she wear her princess outfit. She learnt many things from the movie she watch about dressing up, how to portray as a princess and especially she enjoyed the sing and dance session. She even ask her Dad to dance with her. She was a little funny but she made us laugh and that helped us relax.
School is back!
Yes, 1 week of school holidays are now over and my daughter Marielle is happy that she'll back to school today. I thought my daughter will be happier if she's in the house, no classes but I was wrong. A couple of days at home she always make kulet and keep on saying that she want to go back to school. Well, I guess it's more like that she enjoyed most of the day outside the house especially in the school with her classmates and teachers. Palibhasa wala kasing makalaro dito sa bahay kya gusto lagi nasa labas hehe

Don't you find it annoying when someone calls you on your handphone or landline and suddenly gave you a pitch offering their products or services? More often that not, they will say that your number is in their database etc etc. Wouldn't you wonder if they just do a random number dialing until they got an existing number to call through? Yeah you know what I mean.
Normally, you just try to ignore these callers, hoping that they won't bug you anymore. But eventhough you can't do much about these, you can actually warn or advise other people. This particular website, www.annoyingcallers.com serves as a webspace where people who have experienced such calls can post these numbers and try to advise other people so that they won't be bothered by these callers. Currently there have more than 500 entries listed in the website which range from frank callers, telemarketers or even ex-love partners. It is a great way to share your experience to others while helping them avoid the same situations.
Let us help lessen and eventually eliminate these annoying callers by being a part of the community which is vigilant and pro-active.

Having Fun with Wall-E
It was our first time at Cathay Grand Cinema, the biggest Cathay Theater in Singapore. I was really impressed when we first entered; the room is enormous, the seats are wide and very comfortable, of course the screen is huge and the THX surround sounds are great. It's a good thing that the movie we watched is the latest film from Pixar, Wall-E.I find the film started a bit slow but picked-up its pace later on. Overall, we truly enjoyed watching this heart warming flick. Eventhough the main characters don't really talked, Pixar has managed to convey the characters' feelings through their actions and expressions. It is a must-watch for any Pixar fans as well as any animation watcher.

Seafood + Rice = Winning Dish
My family loves eating with rice. We feel like something is missing or the meal is incomplete without having rice with it. I guess it is part of our culture where rice is always a staple on the table during every meal. And you can do a lot of variations on how to cook or prepare dishes with rice. You can make a paella, a Spanish dish usually garnished with vegetables and meat or seafood, or garlic fried rice, which is usually served during breakfast, or even baked rice meals where you can cover the rice with a dish then baked it usually with cheese on top. Yummy!
Recently, we have stumbled at this particular website featuring cooking competition entitled the Great American Seafood Cook Off. Here 15 prestigious chef from all over US battled it out to be crowned as the King of American Seafood with seafood as their main ingredients of course. It also features the top 5 dishes that were created during the said cook off. Among the five of them, our favorite dish was the creation of Chef John Currence who was hailed from Mississippi. The dish name is Mississippi Redfish Courtboullion with Seafood Dirty Rice. One of obvious reasons for our choice is that rice is one of the ingredients for this menu. Another thing is the chef used a lot of ingredients specially fresh seafoods but only in small portions so that the the taste won't be overwhelming. And as I read through the article, I found out that this is also the winning dish of the event. I guess we have the same palate as the judges hehehe
I guess one of the reasons why that recipe won is because of it features Mississippi's very own Redfish. Since the chef also came from the same place, he brought a distinctive taste that can only be found locally. It's uniqueness became it's major advantage over the other opponents and it probably helped by leaving an impression to the judges. That is why one should try to utilize their own local products specifically on seafoods since it's easier to buy, always available and most importantly, you canbuy more for a cheaper price since you get it directly from the sources.

You can actually try out the dishes as the procedures are quite easy to follow. Just try to substitute some of the ingredients which may not be available in your area. Two weeks ago my husband bought me a Crocs shoe charms to my small electronic devices with a croc o-dial! These clever little cell phone holder shaped just like a croc shoes, complete with the holes and heel strap, to keep the phone safe, and can even be accessorised with 'Jibbitz' charms. They are the perfect fit for most cell phones, mobile phone, mp3 players, and small cameras. There's also a panel at the back which you can use to store your credit cards or any cards and important documents. For me just like the shoes, the Croc phone case is useful, cute and I know I look stupid in this, but I'm comfy!

Of course my daughter Marielle because her daddy will be off early today from the office yehey!! Marielle really like to go out and went to the mall, especially when she knows that were going to meet her dad there. We also visited the library to return the books we borrowed the last time. The magazine is really useful to me as I'm being a stay-at-home mom, it helps to pique my interest. I sometimes get inspiration and ideas. I really like the magazine cover and how it is getting better and better. The articles are really colourful and fun, excellent piece of work. I should say very informative and interesting.
