we just got back from spending a long weekend in Malaysia, Genting - KL to be exact. It was our first visit and we had lots of fun.

I've been busy...

I've got it figured out today that I'm not blogging and blog-hopping these past few days. Why? What keeps me busy these days?

Monday -> It was a holiday (Vesak Day), a day free from work but still my husband go for work(kailangan eh) hehe and I did the usual stuffs. Afterwards, we went out meet up my ex-Amkor colleague Irene at Esplanade do some picture taking as well.

Tuesday -> I've been busy doing the house chores (my burdensome task routine morning and evening) also busy preparing things for my daughter's birthday.

Wednesday -> I do the laundry in the morning and in the afternoon we went to lucky plaza for my pedicure and had dinner also. Then in the evening my friend Joan called me out of nowhere and invited us to go to their place for dinner, it is her husband's birthday. That couple are my former amkor colleagues so I cannot refuse their invitation and also they are my closest friends here in singapore.

Thursday -> Do the laundry again (2x a week is my laundry routine) sending my daughter to school, taking care of my sick husband, preparing foods and by 11 am time to pick up my daughter in the school. That's life! and in the afternoon we went to mall to pick up the birthday cake we ordered.

And today, this morning I was in the school accompanying my daughter to celebrate her advance birthday with her classmates. It also the last day of their class for this term and we're also not sure if by next term they are still in the same class. So, we took the chance for marielle to enjoy her birthday with her classmates and friends.

At this moment I should sleep but instead I'm doing this because I feel guilty I'm not blogging. So, I guess that's more than enough for now.

Jollibee in Singapore???

It's been a long time since we had Jollibee products. The last time was when we went back to the Philippines during Christmas season. During that time, there was a point that we are kind of fed up of eating ChickenJoy and Jolly Spaghetti and said that we will try to avoid eating there again.

Now, we wish that there is a Jollibee branch here in Singapore. So far, we have to settle with Hawker foods and occasional Pinoy foods at Lucky Plaza. For some reason, even though we enjoy eating local foods, the craving for Jollibee foods is still there.

Then last Sunday, our wishes were granted...well, almost. We heard from many Pinoys that there is a food stall in Lau Pa Sat Festival Market at Raffles Place that serves foods that look and taste like Jollibee. We decided to take a look and give it a try.

It took us almost an hour, 9 MRT stations later, we arrived at Lau Pa Sat. Nothing fancy with the place though. It is like a common hawker center, only larger and looks like inside a cathedral-of-sort. But we didn't went there to admire the place, we went there to taste the food.

The food stall has a very unique and well-thought name, Jolly - V. Hmm, i wonder where the owners got the inspiration for the name...hehe Anyway, the stall is located at the end of one of the halls or 'streets'. I can't remember which street it is but I believe it is stall number 65. It was rather a simple stall with a very unimposing aura. After a few discussions, my hubby went to the cashier to order. The prices are not too bad. All the combo meals are set to 5SGD. Here are our orders (just recalling what we ordered already makes me hungry...):

- 1 pc Chicken (with gravy) and Spaghetti
- 1 pc Chicken (with gravy) and Palabok (Yum yum!)
- 2 extra rice
- 1 Iced Lemon Tea (from the local drinks corner)
- 1 Sugar Cane Juice (again from the drinks corner)

After having a few bites of everything, we can personally say that we are in Jollibee heaven. The foods really takes like the ones we had back then...well not exactly the same but very, very much similar. The chicken, though a bit smaller, tastes like ChickenJoy. We specially enjoyed the Palabok even if they used spaghetti noodles rather than the beehoon noodle. It has the authentic flavor, chicharon bits and even tinapa flakes. Add a little bit of calamansi (included) and it's perfect. It is so good (for us), that we even ordered a takeaway.

The spaghetti was just ok. We were expecting a bit more flavor and sweeter taste. But it was still great and have the Pinoy-taste. Also, we wish that they were more generous with the gravy as my hubby likes to mix a lot of gravy in his rice. You can order an extra for 50cents.

All in all, we really enjoyed eating at Jolly-V even though it's quite a distance from our place. For us, it was worth travelling that far just to eat there again. We are actually planning to drop by again this weekend hehe

Final Say: Highly recommended specially if you are craving to eat at Jollibee. It is the closest thing to the original.

There was a night market near our place and it's a good thing we went there last Friday since it was their last day. Well, actually it was my hubby's idea to go there. I'm sure he just want to eat the Ramly Burger which he is always craving about hehe

Koi Garden @ Suntec City

My weekend snapshot # 08

We went to Suntec City last Saturday to watch Speed Racer. It was a great film, though have some boring parts in my opinion. Before going home, we passed by this part of the mall featuring a miniature pond with several fishes called Koi. My daughter and my hubby feed the fishes while i took some shots. They had a great time as it was Marielle's 1st time feeding fishes.

Mother's Day is a special day for all of us. It's time to kiss and hug the sweetest thing in the world - Our Mother! Irrespective of how old we are, what positions we may have acquired in our lives or what is our status in the eyes of the world, we are always a darling child to our Moms.

Mother is perhaps the only person in the world that is ready to forgive any mistakes that the child might have made but on the other hand she also can also be the person who if angry would not speak to you for days. These characteristics of the mother are what separates her from all others.

Mother's Day is the perfect time to pay visit to our Mommy, spend time with her, hold her hands, put our heads into her lap, look into her eyes and say - "Thanks, Mom!".

I'd like to share this to all moms who hate to clean up the mess.

Base on the article I've read today, if I were to heed the experts' advice, I would leave things be and let them indulge in their messy play, for the “chaos and clutter that follow every preschooler are actually positive signs of development,” says Stanley Greenspan, renowned Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Behavioural Sciences and Pediatrics at George Washington University Medical Center in the US and bestselling author of books like The Growth of Mind.

Whatever the (mis)adventures, "your child is exercising his boundless spontaneity, his drive towards self-expression, and his natural desire to explore the world from every possible angle.”

He assures exasperated parents who are mopping up afterward that there is order at the end of the disorderly trail. Research has shown that, after age 3, children are ready to learn to tidy up after themselves. Their logical thinking skills are beginning to develop, and the sooner they begin to learn how to sequence thoughts and actions to accomplish a goal, the easier the clean-up will be.

"You wouldn’t want your child to be creative but utterly disorganized, anymore than you’d want him to methodical but without imagination,” Greenspan has said, writing for Parents magazine. “That’s why you shouldn’t be upset by a preschooler’s mess. If he didn’t make them, he wouldn’t have the chance to learn by unmaking them.”

To help your preschooler learn the concept of tidying up after their mess, Greenspans suggests these steps:

Spare a space for messy play
This can be a corner of the kitchen or the balcony. Whether big or small, the place should be an anxiety-free area where your child can make a mess without worrying about the consequences.

Keep ‘mess-making’ and ‘clean-ups’ as separate activities
Instead of fussing about all the glue that’s been smeared onto the table, get the kids to talk about what they’re making and why.

When it's time to move on, give notice by saying something like, “This has been fun, but we have to stop soon. We can do this again another day." Bringing the session of play to a pleasant conclusion makes it easier to get them involved in the packing up.

Make clean-up a problem-solving session
Take the time to figure out what needs to be done, as well as who’s going to do what. Let your children suggest how the cleaning up might be made easier, and they’ll surprise you by suggesting the crayons should go into the shoebox and the scissors into the drawer for safety. By encouraging this line of thinking, you are nurturing early organisational abilities.a

Be realistic
Keeping in mind that cleaning up takes patience, set age-appropriate goals that are sensible and work towards the long term. Even just putting away the colour pencils is a good start.

What do you guys think a good birthday gift is? I asked my daughter Marielle what she wants, and I got the expected answer which was: What does she want for her birthday? She thinks a while and says, "Gupit hair (haircut), Slipper(crocs), Bike and a Toy Laptop".^-^ oooppsss... no! that's too much already. better luck next time hehehe
