Riding The Singapore Flyer

It's been quite a while the last time we went to a tourist destination here in Singapore. If I'm not mistaken that was around August 2007 were we went back to Sentosa with me, Marielle, my hubby, my mom-in-law and my tita-in-law. I guess we already been to those places that we meant to be visited. And besides, Singapore is just a small island so not a lot of things to see and do.

Anyway, one of the few places we haven't been yet is the iconic Singapore Flyer. Basically, it is a very huge Ferris wheel, similar to the London Eye though I'm not sure which one is bigger. Boasting a 165 metres height, Singapore Flyer is one of the newest tourist attraction located at the Marina Bay which is set to have a lot of exciting developments. From the top you can actually see the whole Singapore and parts of Malaysia and even Indonesia. And last Saturday, we finally decided to experience riding it.

We arrived there around after lunch time. Actually our timing was just perfect. The sudden rain have already stopped by the time we went out of City Hall MRT, then we just managed to ride the free shuttle to the Flyer. And when we arrived there was no queue at all so after buying the ticket, we went directly to one of its capsule and catch a ride. We weren't alone though, there were two Koreans with us but we really don't mind since one capsule can actually accommodate up to 28 people so it was quite spacious.

The whole ride will take around 30 mins. You won't actually feel any movement at all during the whole ride, you'll just realize that the people are becoming smaller and smaller. We manage to see the Singapore Skyline as well as parts of the racetrack that will be used for Singapore Grand Prix late this year. The capsule was designed to allow you almost 360 degree view of Singapore so we didn't waste out chance and took a lot of pictures.

After 30 mins, we found ourselves back to the ground. For the price that we paid (SGD29.50 for adult, SGD20.65 for child), I can say it was worth the experience riding the Flyer. But you won't find us riding it again since you'll just be seeing the same thing when you go up again. Unless we won a pairs of tickets hehe But I do recommend riding it at least once when you visit the island city.
